Dana N. Levitt

Dana Levitt, a seasoned trial lawyer and general commercial litigator, addresses commercial, financial, and intellectual property disputes, as well as antitrust, franchise, labor and employment, product liability, trademark and RICO-based matters. He has extensive experience in representing clients in complex, multi-forum litigation and in arbitration proceedings.

Mr. Levitt has brought his analytical and litigation skills to bear on behalf of prominent holders of intellectual property of various kinds, including intellectual property associated with the visual and graphic arts, health care, medical devices and other medical-related matters, fashion enterprises, and personal care products. Mr. Levitt’s extensive litigation experience and key legal managerial roles have led established enterprises to enlist him to conduct investigations of alleged corporate misconduct of various kinds, including as to allegations of sexual harassment and race and age discriminations. Mr. Levitt’s work product in such assignments has been relied upon to defend and settle contentious litigation, by virtue of the care evident in its detailed factual and legal findings.

Mr. Levitt is recognized as an authority by his peers, having been invited to write and lecture on topics such as:

  • effective advocacy in complex commercial arbitration,
  • achieving efficiency in complex commercial arbitration,
  • techniques for arbitrating large cases, and
  • techniques for cross examining plaintiff’s experts in disability discrimination claims.

Mr. Levitt has been an instructor in advocacy in arbitration at the UCLA School of Law (spring semester, 2009). Mr. Levitt is Peer Review Rated as AV® Preeminent™, the highest performance rating in Martindale-Hubbell’s peer review rating system.

Mr. Levitt is active in the American Bar Association as a member of the Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution Sections. He is a fellow of the American Bar Foundation, a membership limited to attorneys, judges and law professors whose careers demonstrate outstanding dedication to the welfare of their communities and to the highest principles of the legal profession. Mr. Levitt serves on the board of the Children’s Bureau of Southern California. He is a member of the Asian Pacific Bar Association and the International Chamber of Commerce.

Prior to joining Zuber & Taillieu, Mr. Levitt was a partner of Foley & Lardner LLP and previously of McDermott Will & Emery LLP. Earlier in his career, he served as director of litigation at Security Pacific National Bank, supervising law firms throughout the United States and working closely with the bank’s outside auditors; and also as the managing partner of the business and entertainment law firm Alschuler, Grossman, Kahan & Pine.
