Ryan Smith specializes in entertainment. He represents leading motion picture, television production and distribution companies, as well as top producers, directors, writers and performers. He is an accomplished public speaker in the area of entertainment law having participated, as a panelist and moderator, on a wide range of entertainment industry panels including “Understanding Independent Film Production and Financing”, “From Print to Screen: Acquiring Rights to Literary Properties”, “The Art of Structuring and Negotiating the Feature Film Producer Deal” and “Legal and Business Issues in Book Publishing”, and having presented educational seminars relating to various legal issues concerning the motion picture and television industries.
Mr. Smith is also a leading legal commentator, having appeared on networks and programs such as CNN, Fox News, Fox Business, Court TV and NBC’s The Today Show, and currently serving as an anchor on truTV’s In Session.
Mr. Smith has served as a member of the Advisory Board of the Independent Feature Project’s Independent Feature Film Market, and as a member of the Board of Directors of The Armory Track and Field Center in New York City.
Prior to joining Zuber & Taillieu LLP, Mr. Smith practiced law at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP, and at the entertainment law firm Frankfurt Kurnit Klein & Selz PC. Prior to that he served as Director of Football Administration and Counsel for the National Football League’s Jacksonville Jaguars.
