Zuber & Taillieu

Tom Zuber

Partner

Tom Zuber, who specializes in managing high-stakes intellectual property matters, co-founded Zuber & Taillieu in 2003 as a 3rd-year associate with no clients, and served as its Managing Partner for the first 7 years of its history. During his tenure, Mr. Zuber managed Zuber & Taillieu’s growth from 3 attorneys working out of a Los Angeles domestic kitchen to over 25 attorneys working in 11 different languages representing clients throughout the world from offices in both Los Angeles and New York City. Zuber & Taillieu currently represents eight of the Fortune 100 companies, and iconic government entities such as the FDIC. At the end of 2010, Mr. Zuber stepped down as Managing Partner to focus more precisely on client service, attorney recruitment and business development, and to serve as Co-CEO of LawLoop.com. Zuber & Taillieu is now governed by a Management Committee, on which Mr. Zuber serves. He continues to chair Zuber & Taillieu’s Recruiting Committee and Business Development Committee.

Legal services are often considered a necessary evil—friction slowing down the gears of commerce. Our view is more constructive. We are our clients' partners, and our legal services are a component in the creation of their widgets and services. We are in the business of protecting, enforcing and exploiting the ideas from which our clients' innovations grow."
- Tom Zuber

LawLoop.com is a complete cloud computing solution for lawyers. While serving as Zuber & Taillieu’s first and only Managing Partner, Mr. Zuber became increasingly frustrated with the choices (and prices) of generic and legal industry software applications, and what he considered to be disproportionate overhead associated with Zuber & Taillieu’s technical department and servers maintenance. He decided to create something better from the ground up, namely a comprehensive and seamlessly integrated cloud computing portal that would replace all firm software, and eliminate the need for Zuber & Taillieu’s technical department and servers. LawLoop.com is the result, and he now wants to share that result with the world. Mr. Zuber’s inventions relating to LawLoop.com have resulted in over 10 patents and patents pending, with more on the way.

Mr. Zuber actively engages in pro bono work through Zuber & Taillieu, and in other philanthropic causes outside the office.  For instance, he performs free legal work for The World Justice Project, a Washington, D.C.-based non-profit organization engaged in projects to advance the rule of law around the world. In addition to his pro bono legal work, during his spare time, he sits on the Regional Board of Directors of UNICEF, the world’s leading advocate for children.

Prior to co-founding Zuber & Taillieu, Mr. Zuber practiced in the Intellectual Property Department of the New York City office of White & Case LLP, and then in the Intellectual Property Department of the Los Angeles office of O’Melveny & Myers LLP.
