Wendy Heimann-Nunes chairs Zuber & Taillieu LLP’s location-based entertainment department. Prior to joining Zuber & Taillieu LLP, Ms. Heimann-Nunes practiced law as an executive at Universal Studios, specifically as head of Business and Legal Affairs for Universal Creative, the division of Universal Studios responsible for the concept, design and development of all of its domestic and international theme parks, resorts and attractions. In her role, Ms. Heimann-Nunes was responsible for production agreements, creative services agreements, ride-system acquisition agreements, professional services agreements, sponsorship agreements, licensing agreements, strategic partnership agreements, talent agreements, and myriad other agreements; managing outside counsel services; advising on corporate, intellectual property, employment, and insurance issues relating to project development, rights acquisition, construction, union relations, risk management, and other areas; and managing dispute proceedings and resolutions.
Prior to her tenure at Universal Studios, Ms. Heimann-Nunes served as General Counsel and Head of Business and Legal Affairs for The OZ Entertainment Company, an entertainment start-up acquiring 9,000-acres of a decommissioned army ammunition plant in the State of Kansas for development of a “Wizard of Oz” theme park, hotel, golf course, conference center, retail, dining and entertainment center, and residential community.
Ms. Heimann-Nunes began her legal career as a corporate and intellectual property attorney at the Chicago headquarters of Mayer Brown LLP.
Ms. Heimann-Nunes is a recognized legal expert in the themed entertainment industry. She is an active member and pro-bono counsel of the Themed Entertainment Association, the only international non-profit association representing the world’s leading creators, developers, designers and producers of compelling places and experiences. On the pro bono front, Ms. Heimann-Nunes spearpoints Zuber & Taillieu LLP’s pro-bono representation of the We Are The World Foundation, the collaborative effort of AEG, Quincy Jones, and Lionel Richie to raise funds for Haiti.
In addition to her legal experience, Ms. Heimann-Nunes has significant business experience, including having served as Executive Director of the renowned Chicago landmark The Chicago Theatre. Ms. Heimann-Nunes’ dedication to community service currently includes serving as Chair of the Historic Theatres Committee of the Los Angeles Conservancy. Her influence inside and outside of the legal industry inspired Today’s Chicago Women to name her one of “100 Women in Chicago Making a Difference.”
