Accomplished Patent Trial Litigator Mark Bloomberg Joins Zuber Lawler & Del Duca as Partner
Mark Bloomberg joins Zuber Lawler & Del Duca as a partner in its New York City office, where he will focus on patent litigation disputes, and advising clients concerning patent infringement, validity, remedies and licensing. Mr. Bloomberg’s extensive trial experience includes representation of an American-based international consumer product company at an eight-month bench trial for damages relating to the opposing party’s infringement of the company’s instant photography patents, resulting in an award of $925 million in damages. It also includes defense and counseling of a start-up satellite radio company against patents asserted by its competitor, which enabled the company to avoid those patents and launch its service before its competitor could enter the market.
Prior to joining Zuber Lawler & Del Duca, Mr. Bloomberg was a partner at the New York City office of Ropes & Gray LLP. For more than 25 years, he has participated in all aspects of patent litigation, including jury trials, bench trials, claim construction hearings, arbitrations and appeals. Mr. Bloomberg also counsels clients in connection with various types of intellectual property issues, including potential infringement and validity of patents; developing strategies to redesign products to avoid infringement; assessing the merits, potential damages and potential injunctive relief for ongoing litigation in connection with diligence; and negotiating and preparing patent licenses, settlement agreements and purchase agreements.
“Zuber Lawler & Del Duca provides an outstanding platform for my practice with its innovative vision of servicing clients effectively and efficiently, which has resulted in the rapid growth of the firm,” says Mark Bloomberg. “I am excited to join its expanding patent litigation and counseling practice, and to lead the growth of the firm in New York.”
“We are excited to welcome Mark to Zuber Lawler & Del Duca’s New York office,” says Tom Zuber, co-founder of Zuber Lawler & Del Duca. “Mark’s demonstrated talents as a patent trial litigator and exhaustive experience relating to complex litigation matters significantly deepen Zuber Lawler & Del Duca’s patent litigation bench. I am especially excited about the leadership role that Mark will provide in growing the New York office.”
Mr. Bloomberg earned his J.D. degree cum laude at Harvard Law School, and undergraduate and master’s degrees in engineering at MIT. He currently Co-Chairs the New York Intellectual Property Law Association CLE Committee, and is an active member of the IPO Damages and Injunctions Committee.
