Zuber Lawler & Del Duca Partner Gerold Libby Elected General Counsel to The World Justice Project
Los Angeles (October 20, 2010) – Gerold Libby, a partner in Zuber Lawler & Del Duca’s corporate and commercial law practice group, has been elected General Counsel to the World Justice Project, a non-profit organization based in Washington, D.C., engaged in projects to advance the rule of law around the world.
The activity of the World Justice Project began as an American Bar Association initiative in 2006, but became an independent, stand-alone enterprise in September of 2009. Its leading programs include the WJP Rule of Law Index™ and the Opportunity Fund. The WJP Rule of Law Index™ is a unique and comprehensive tool that evaluates a country’s adherence to the rule of law in quantitative terms. It provides governments, non-profits, researchers and global entities with opportunities for targeted reform. The Opportunity Fund supports innovative, action-oriented activities that promote the rule of law, from developing models for delivering justice services in China to providing legal aid services for the poor in India.
In his capacity as General Counsel, Libby is responsible for all World Justice Project legal matters, including review of contracts and grant documentation, and attending to governance matters. Previously in his career, Libby served as President of the Inter-Pacific Bar Association and Chair of the ABA Section of International law, and practiced with major law firms in Japan and Korea. He is a frequent speaker and author on subjects of international business law.
